Light, measurement and materials. For architecture these three are vital. To create a comfortable living space for customers, it is very important how these three are combined and enacted. Among them, light has a profound effect on design. When I see the site, “light” and “interior accessory” come to my mind initially. In what way the interior accessories are decorated, and how the light comes in through the windows are al entry points for ideas. Then, images produce further details, such as different styles of stairs, ceiling and wall specifications, and also the possibility to expand space. In the final phase of formulating a basic plan, the customer’s lifestyle and requests must be taken into account.
Measurement is an important component in deciding the liveable nature of a house. One crucial aspect is that the measurements are appropriate, consonant with the building capacity and the customer’s lifestyle. By calculating the height, width and depth individually the general proportion will be determined automatically. Then the decision regarding the kind of materials, construction and equipment to be used will almost complete the plan. The interaction between the materials and equipment enhances the value of the space in the house. Whether they are luxury items or not is not the point and does not matter. The significant factor is their suitability for the available space. The modification can be regarded as successful if the space presence is evident.
The Japanese origin of architecture is “So” (can be translated as “natural”). Therefore decoration does not have any meaning from a Japanese point of view. Detailed workmanship and design are necessary if we want to create art and a long-lasting impression. However, if it is present in architecture it will quickly fade away and become lost in the common scenes of everyday living. It is for this reason that the ideas go close to “So” and those things which are in harmony with nature. A simpler design provides the customer with greater variation depending on the weather. Architecture has to be influenced by environment, atmosphere and light. The ideal architecture is a house which is raised to a more sophisticated level by not adding something but by chipping off something of the foundation of Japanese “So”.
